Carrie Kerpen, the Likeable CEO, says “Prioritize Yourself!”

Carrie Kerpen does it all, but never at the expense of her health.
When we first featured Kerpen in 2015, we were struck by just how relatable she is—even though she is co-founder and CEO of Likeable Media, one of the most prominent social media agencies in the industry. As an entrepreneur, columnist, mother of three, speaker and more, Kerpen wears a million hats and still takes time to help other women succeed! She added author to the long list of roles she excels at just days ago with the publication of her new book, Work It: Secrets for Success from the Boldest Women in Business. Her book, described as a “must read manifesto for women in the workplace,” is a woman’s guide to navigating her career and growth.
Entrepreneurship Can Wreak Havoc on Health
From a self-described start as an “accidental entrepreneur,” Carrie has scaled her business and brand immensely, but as any woman knows, constant hustling can be hard on your mind and body. Kerpen says, “The pressures of running a business, while juggling everything else in our lives, can take a toll on our health. As women, when we’re balancing lots of things, we tend to put ourselves—and our wellbeing last. But in order to be the best at what you do, you have to put yourself first.”
Prioritizing YOU
With many responsibilities and demands on her time, Kerpen knows just how hard it can be to put herself first, but she recognizes that prioritizing her health is not selfish. Kerpen adds: “When I put myself first, I am a better leader, a better mom, a better wife.” We sheBOOMers tend to do it all and be selfless in their missions, but keeping yourself healthy and sane is one of the greatest gives you can give those around you. How does Kerpen take care of herself and excel at the same time? In her words, taking care of herself “means planning ahead and not grabbing food on the go, carving out time to exercise, and taking mental health breaks. If you want to be a better leader, you have to make a conscious decision to prioritize your health and start putting yourself first.”
Listen up, sheBOOMers, you are hearing it from the best of the best: this month, make self-care a goal, just like any other business goal you may have. Your personal and professional life will thank you.
Many thanks to Carrie Kerpen for taking time out of her busy schedule to mentor and inspire the women around her. She truly is a likeable woman!
