Four Helpful Tips for Anger Management
- Breathe. Close your eyes and try inhaling for four counts and exhaling for four counts. This breathing will center your mind and body, reducing and anger and stress. (Some may even say to inhale positivity and exhale any negative thoughts you have).
- Take a break. Try not to react to anything immediately. Nothing is wrong with giving yourself some time to think things through.
- Grab a hot compress. When you’re stressed or angry, your shoulders have a tendency to tense up which may lead to knots and pain. Try putting a hot compress on the back of your neck (or maybe a hot towel) and do some head rolls.
- Smile. Even if you don’t feel like it, smiling is said to decrease heart rate and reduce stress.
