How do you spend special holidays? Do you work late, squeezing in those last few appointments and selling gift certificates to panicked shoppers? Or, are you making goo-goo eyes at your lover over chocolates and a glass of champagne? We get it. It was probably the former. Or, maybe you’re thinking, “What lover? Who the hell has time to meet someone? I’m always working!”
Meg Hirshberg, author of “For Better or For Work: A Survival Guide for Entrepreneurs and Their Families” and Inc.com blogger says, “When you start a business, you may think you can dictate your own schedule, which should make live easier. But that’s a myth. The reality is that businesses are like babies: they need you when they need you. And they always need you — your time, your attention, and your energy.”
So how do you make time for everything?
- Plan ahead. You usually know when your busy days and times of year will be, so pre-plan your time with family, friends, and lovers.
- Surround yourself with people who “have your back.” Think about your inner circle — employees, friends, and co-workers who will relieve you when you need time off.
- Most important, be sure to ask for help when you need it. Many women feel guilty asking for help or taking a day for themselves. Get over it!
We’re never too late to celebrate a holiday!
