Melanie Kahn’s Advice for Female Entrepreneurs: “Think Like a Man”
Melanie Kahn, the only female business owner chosen for Kraft Heinz’s inaugural Springboard Incubator Program, is a mother of two who created an antioxidant lemonade called Poppilu. This new lemonade is one of the healthiest on the market, with three flavors that all contain under 10 ingredients and are all 60 calories.
Here are Melanie’s words of advice for fellow female entrepreneurs:
“My tip for other female entrepreneurs is “Think like a man.” Sounds sexist, right? That advice has been given to me both by men and women who have been successful in business. At first, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. But I’ve realized they were right. Too often, we women downplay our successes and take more conservative views on how big our businesses can become. A lot of us just don’t like to brag about our accomplishments or be unrealistic about our business projections. And we therefore shortchange ourselves compares to our male peer entrepreneurs. They go all out, tout their wins, provide sky-high projections, and are rarely viewed as braggarts. Instead, they win admiration and respect, and in many cases that helps them get a huge advantage in funding. It’s something I still need to work on, and I hope today’s readers will get a head start.” -Melanie Kahn
